Tweed is making a bid to have the proposed new paramedic station located in the village.
In a letter to the Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services and Hastings County, Mayor Jo-Anne Albert points to a 1.9 acre site on Louisa Street.
Tweed council is asking the county to consider that property when reviewing potential sites for the future new paramedic station.
At the Hastings-Quinte Emergency Services Committee meeting Wednesday, Paramedic Chief Doug Socha indicated that a recommendation on a paramedic station site for the Central Hastings area will be brought forward next month.
Socha explained he and paramedic staff have been working with County Director of Facilities and Capital Infrastructure Jim Duffin to come up with a base design concept.
Socha indicated this would indicate the size of the building.
Paramedic and county staff have been looking at some possible sites.
Socha added, ““Along with that, we’re also doing some data analysis on call volumes, and where the best place is for the base to be strategically, and operationally as well.”
There have also been proposals from Stirling, Centre Hastings and Madoc Township.
