Officials with the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board say as of right now, the intention is for students to return to class after the April break, on April 19.
In a letter issued Thursday afternoon, Director of Education Sean Monteith says schools will “continue to operate with as much consistency as possible, while respecting parent/guardian rights to decide whether or not to keep their children home”.
Monteith stresses that “maintaining safe learning environments has been our commitment from the start of the pandemic and continues to be a priority”, also noting that increased cleaning will take place across the school board’s facilities over the break.
Parents are also being advised to continue to screen students for COVID-19 symptoms before sending them to school, when classes do resume.
