Businesses throughout Hastings County had a good year in 2020 despite the many COVID-19 issues, and it’s looking good again.
They were dealing with the lockdowns but the many tourist-related businesses drew people into the area.
Hastings County Economic Development Manager Andrew Redden tells Quinte News, “People were drawn to the area to get away from the bigger cities to enjoy the accommodations throughout the county.”
He says Hastings County experienced “over-tourism” in 2020, and “it’s already happening this year.”
“We do hear from many of them that they are fully booked for the whole summer and so that’s great news. So we do understand that people are going to be coming here again this year.”
Redden emphasized the county is ready to help any businesses requiring assistance applying for financial support from the provincial or federal governments.
