Belleville Council has ratified a new collective bargaining agreement with more than 200 of its unionized CUPE workers.
Those workers had been without a deal since 2019 and the bargaining process went back and forth, until a tentative deal was reached on February 19 of this year.
That agreement narrowly avoided a strike by those workers, who represent various city departments.
As part of the deal, those workers will see wage increases of 1% retroactive to 2019, 0% for 2020, 1.5% for 2021 and 1.75% each for both 2022 and 2023.
There are no changes to benefits.
Workers with CUPE Local 907 had previously ratified the deal in February, with 92% of its members voting in favour of the new agreement.
