Quinte News needs to clarify a recent story about a woman suffering minor injuries after a dog bite.
The picture attached to the brief story showed the side of a Belleville Police cruiser marked K9.
That photo has caused many to believe that that The Belleville Police Service’s newly announced police dog was responsible for the bite.
As a consequence the police service has been besieged by critical comment on social media and over the telephone.
In fact the police dog had nothing to do with the incident in the story.
The photo was a mistake by Quinte News, an error easily made and innocently made.
We apologize to the public and especially the Belleville Police Service for the aggravation caused.
