A proposed Celebrity Walk, with sidewalk pavers in downtown Belleville is aimed at more than celebrating the city’s citizens who have won fame.
Spokesman Tim Schaly tells Quinte News he hopes it will also influence the young residents of the city.
Schaly says he hopes to obtain a city grant to help with the sponsorship monument, which would cost $16,000.
The pavers, costing $3,800, would be purchased by sponsors.
Schaly told council recently that it could honour such Bellevillians as Sir Mackenzie Bowell, author Farley Mowat, and hockey player Bobby Hull as some candidates to be featured on the pavers.
Schaly is hoping to get the project in motion in time for the Mayor’s Week of the Arts next May.
