Councillor Janice Maynard got reassurances from Prince Edward County engineering staff the Ameliasburgh washroom project will be wrapped up in a few short weeks.
Project Manager Garrett Osborne gave council a verbal update at their regular council meeting on Tuesday night at Shire Hall.
He says the company, Standard Paving Ltd., has given the County a completion date of June 7 for the project, which was approved by council in July last year.
Osborne says the foundation is done as is the concrete slab on grade, masonry work and concrete block walls are completed, the roof trusses have been installed, plumbing and electrical is in and the interior walls are now up.
The frame is being inspected on Wednesday (May 15), with the trenching to and back filling to be completed by May 17, roofing, soffit and fascia will be done by May 22, the holding tank and pumping chamber to be done by May 29, the concrete block way is set for May 30, and the drywall, painting and doors completed by June 5 and site restoration is set for June 7.
Maynard was thrilled with the news as this has been an eight month long endeavor and she’d like to see the park completed before the County’s busy tourist season as well as baseball is set to start next week.Osborne told those in council chambers they will continue with the project and see it completed and the schedule adhered to.
He says most of this work will be conducted during regular business hours, which is when parks aren’t normally busy.
Standard Paving is being sued by the City of Belleville for two construction contacts that were not completed.
A full written report by staff is expected at the May 30 Committee of the Whole meeting.
Maynard also asked if it were possible to get the dirt piles currently on site moved and contained to another area as the baseball diamond will come into use in a few short days as their season gets underway.
