The Wellington Dukes have been the underdogs in three straight playoff rounds but that hasn’t stopped them from advancing to the Ontario Junior Hockey League final for the second year in a row.
And the defending champs will be prohibitive underdogs again when they open the Buckland Cup championship round in Oakville against the Blades tonight.
Oakville had the best record in the league this season with 94 points. The Dukes finished with 64. However coach John Druce says they’ve been a different team since Christmas.
Druce says his team simply doesn’t quit.
Druce offers his scouting report on the Blades.
Wellington beat Oakville 6-5 in double overtime in their only regular season meeting on January 25th at Lehigh Arena.
Game 2 is in Wellington Sunday night at 7.
