More work to upgrade the Millennium Trail in Prince Edward County will begin this fall.
The County has already committed $370,000 to the project, with another $110,000 already raised by the trails committee.
The project includes a full revamp of the 46 kilometre trail, which connects County Road 64 in Carrying Place, to County Road 49 in Picton and passes through Consecon, Wellington and Bloomfield.
Work has already been completed on an 11 kilometre stretch from Danforth Road, to Highway 33 east of Wellington, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Rotary Club of Wellington.
This fall, resurfacing will be done from just east of Wellington, to Lake Street in Picton, with more resurfacing to be done from Wellington to Carrying Place in 2018.
In its final year, signage, ecopassages and “trailhead” locations will be added, which include multiple parking lots to make accessing the trail easier.
