There’s been an ongoing picket outside of Belleville’s chapter of the Canadian Hearing Society this week.
Unionized workers have been without a contract for four years and negotiations with the organization have been slow, with workers not getting the concessions they feel they deserve.
A spokesperson for the local group tells Quinte News they’re pushing for a cost of living increase in wages, as well as to keep their benefits, especially since most of the staff are single women with families.
The strike began on March 6th and has an effect on 23 other Canadian Hearing Society offices across the province.
