A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect across the Quinte region this afternoon heading into the evening.
Environment Canada has issued the weather watch for Belleville, Quinte West, Prince Edward County, Northumberland County and Napanee.
Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
The public is advised to take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
