The issue of Belleville’s Police Services Board budget, that caused so much controversey during last week’s city budget, was raised again at City Council. Councillor Tom Lafferty raised the question of the 150-thousand dollars the police services Board gets each year from the provincial offences Act fines. Councillor Jack Miller said although the first year it went to establishing a traffic unit, afterwards it became part of the operating budgtet amount….exactly why he didn’t support the 100-thousand dollars asked for last week. He says that would add an extra 100-thousand dollars to the police budget every year.
