Lennox and Addington County OPP have detained two people following an active police investigation in Stone Mills on Tuesday.
Officers had previously established a heavy presence near County Road 27 and Hunt Road, north of Newburgh.
Officers were warning motorists not to pick up hitchhikers while the search was underway.
Police confirm both individuals were taken into custody without incident and no other suspects are being sought.
Authorities reassure the public there’s no threat to safety as the investigation continues.
