The Northumberland Land Trust is expanding its team, with a new Engagement and Development Coordinator.
Ian Shanahan was appointed to fill the new role. Shanahan has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Queen’s University and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto.
“With the generous support from the Centre for Land Conservation, we were able to add Ian to our team in a role that is crucial to NLT’s ability to prepare for the future,” said Amanda Newell, Executive Director, Northumberland Land Trust. “Ian’s skills and experience will help us grow the number of people and foundations that can support our work to preserve nature in Northumberland.”
Over 13 years in the education and interpretation department with Ontario Parks, Shanahan worked eight seasons at Presqu’ile, one at Charleston Lake, and four at Algonquin, the last of which was spent as the coordinator of the interpretive program. He next spent five years as general editor of Green Teacher magazine and three years as director of communications with Worldwide Quest.
Shanahan continues to support the Outdoor Learning School and Store as project coordinator.
