The City of Quinte West announced it has launched its own physician recruitment program at a press conference on Wednesday.
In addition to the launch announcement, the city announced it signed two new family physicians that will be starting practices in Quinte West.
The two doctors announced include Dr. Bailey Brant, who received his Doctor of Medicine in 2026 at the University of Toronto, and Dr. Siddarth Varatharajan, who is a candidate for his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Queensland, Australia in 2032.
In the announcement, the city touted four recruitment incentives which are broken down as follows:
- Primary Care Physician Recruitment Incentive – $175,000 for a five-year full-time service agreement within the City of Quinte West,
- Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Incentive – $15,000 for a five-year full-time service agreement within the City of Quinte West
- Emergency Room Physician Incentive – two independent $75,000 incentives for a five-year full-time return to service agreement within the City of Quinte West at the Trenton Memorial Emergency Room Department,
- Hospital Physician Incentive – two independent $75,000 incentives for a five-year full-time service agreement within the Trenton Memorial Hospital Medical Inpatient Unit.
