A Carrying Place man has been found guilty of a string of residential break-ins at a Carrying Place subdivision between 2021 and 2025.
Mathew Gardiner, 31 years old at the time of his arrest last August, was sentenced to a nine-month conditional sentence on June 12, meaning he will avoid jail time if he doesn’t break the conditions.
He was sentenced on residential break and enter, theft over $5,000, and breach of probation charges.
OPP said the property stolen and damage caused was valued at nearly $300,000.
OPP recovered over $17,000 worth of stolen items including power tools and electronics during its investigation.
For the first three months of his sentence Gardiner will be under house arrest and has been barred from being near areas where certain businesses are operating.
