As part of ongoing enforcement efforts in relation to open air drug use, possession, and trafficking in the Town of Cobourg, the Cobourg Police Service Street Crime Enforcement Unit and Uniform Patrol Members conducted targeted enforcement in the downtown area on July 23, 2026.
As a result of these efforts, a quantity of Schedule I substances was seized, and eight adults were arrested for the possession of a controlled substance after being observed engaging in the consumption of illicit drugs.
Multiple charges were laid, including:
- Possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Fail to comply with probation contrary to the Criminal Code
- Engage in prohibited activity on premises contrary to the Trespass to Property Act
