Three people face drug and human trafficking charges after a vehicle stop at the ONroute in Odessa.
Just before 1 a.m. on Thursday, Lennox & Addington County OPP were advised by Peel Regional Police that they were tracking the phone of a missing youth from Quebec.
Police say they located the vehicle in the parking lot of the Highway 401 Kingston ONroute.
Following an investigation, police determined that two of the passengers were victims of human trafficking.
Police located just under 500 grams of suspected cocaine, multiple weapons, and just under $1500 in Canadian currency.
Officers also seized cell phones, scales and materials associated with drug and human trafficking.
Twenty-three-year-old Mathis Bourgeois of Laval, Quebec, 29-year-old Joseph-Jean Pevensly of Longeuil, Quebec, and a youth who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, from Magog, Quebec were charged jointly with:
- Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
- Human trafficking
- Human trafficking a person under 18
- Material benefit from trafficking in persons
- Material benefit from trafficking in persons under 18
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
Bourgeois was additionally charged with:
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Fail to comply with a probation order – two counts
- Drive motor vehicle with liquor readily available
- Drive motor vehicle with cannabis readily available
The unnamed youth was additionally charged with:
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Fail to comply with a probation order
All three accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on July 23, 2026.
