The Lehigh Arena at the Wellington and District Community Centre is getting a new name, as it’s naming rights sponsorship deal has been renewed.
Council discussed a potential sponsorship agreement for the arena during Tuesday’s council meeting. The existing naming rights contract had previously expired, and municipal staff looked into renewing the agreement. The new agreement with Heidelburg Materials includes a contribution of $150,000 over 10 years, paid in $15,000 yearly instalments.
When the arena was built, it was originally sponsored by Essroc Canada Inc, who received naming rights in recognition to their contributions to the arena’s construction in 2010. Following corporate ownership changes, the sponsorship name was changed to Lehigh Arena in 2019. Lehigh has since become Heidelburg Materials Canada Ltd.
In recognition of their contributions, the arena will be named the Heidelberg Materials Arena at the Wellington & District Community Centre.
