Prince Edward County is making a change to their procedural bylaw, making it harder to return to a decision already made by council.
During Tuesday’s meeting, council voted to change the threshold to reconsider a previously decided matter to require a two thirds majority, rather than the previous simple majority.
The motion was put forward by councillor Brad Nieman, who said that motions up for reconsideration will have already had long discussions done about them.
“You want the threshold to be a little bit higher than just a simple majority, and I think that gives you a little more credibility for the reconsideration motions,” said Councillor Nieman.
The motion was approved after brief debate.
