Belleville police say they’ve made an arrest in connection with a gas theft and stolen vehicle investigation that began Sunday morning.
A male in a stolen vehicle left a Bell Boulevard area gas station without paying.
Police located the suspect and there was a brief high-speed pursuit before officers called it off for public safety.
The driver later dumped the car and allegedly stole a delivery truck before abandoning it.
Late Monday morning, police received a report that the suspect was in the area of Cannifton Road and Bell Boulevard.
Officers located the male in a wooded area.
There was a brief foot pursuit before he was taken into custody.
As a result of the investigation, a 51-year-old Kingston man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with:
· Theft of a motor vehicle
· Theft under $5000
· Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
· Flight from peace officer
· Dangerous operation x2
· Fail to comply with a release order x3
· Break and enter
He was held for a bail hearing.
