Charges have been laid after a dog and its owner were assaulted in Quinte West.
Quinte West OPP, the Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit responded to an area near Creswell Drive in Trenton on Monday.
The dog was allegedly assaulted first and later on, its owner.
As a result of the investigation, 28-year-old Thomas Hazelton of Quinte West has been charged with:
- Killing or injuring animals
- Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
- Assault with a weapon
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
- Obstruct peace officer
- Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
