You may have noticed a stronger police presence in downtown Trenton this summer.
Quinte West OPP have increased foot patrols to enhance public safety, build community partnerships, and address community concerns.
The operation has been running since June 15 and will continue through September 1. Focused patrols place officers on foot and bicycles, conducting patrols throughout the downtown core and area green space, providing a visible police presence while fostering positive interactions with residents, business owners and visitors.
The initiative focuses on community engagement, directly addressing public concerns and enforcement where warranted.
Officers are proactively dealing with enforcement-related matters such as trespassing, disturbing the peace and drug offences where required while also being available to respond to calls for service in the area.
They’re also providing outreach and support to vulnerable persons through connections to community resources and partner agencies.
Quinte West OPP says they are committed to working with community partners, local businesses, and residents to ensure the downtown core remains a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
