A Belleville man faces a slew of charges after a dispute in the west end of the City of Belleville.
Belleville police attended the residence at around 12:10 p.m. on Tuesday regarding a tenant dispute.
When officers arrived, they learned that two residents were in the yard when a male tenant began yelling at them from an upper staircase.
Police say that the male then spat at one of the individuals and subsequently broke a compact disc (CD), throwing fragments toward them.
Upon initial police response, the male remained inside his residence and did not leave in response to officers’ attempts to effect an arrest.
Later that day, at 3:03 p.m., police re-attended the home after the same male involved in the earlier incident contacted dispatch repeatedly despite not reporting any emergency.
When police returned, it was reported that the male had made additional threats toward the same two residents while pointing a firearm at one of them, and he was also believed to be in possession of a knife.
The male exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident.
As a result of investigation, a 43-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Imitation firearm – use while committing offence
- Assault with a weapon
- Assault
- Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm X2
- Public mischief
He was held for a bail hearing.
