A traffic stop on Friday resulted in numerous charges including impaired driving against a Quinte West man.
At approximately 1:15 a.m., Quinte West OPP conducted a traffic stop on Hamilton Road, leading to an investigation where an ASD was used, resulting in the arrest of the driver for being impaired.
The driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Nicholas McCRORY, 33 years old, from Quinte West, was charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available
- Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver
- Class G1 licence holder – drive at unlawful hour
- Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero
- Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
- Speeding 1-49 Km/h over posted speed limit
- Fail to have insurance card
OPP charged another motorist with impaired driving during the noon hour on Sunday.
A traffic complaint resulted in officers conducting a traffic stop of a vehicle on Campbell Street, Trenton.
As a result of the investigation, charges were laid under the Criminal Code (CC) and the Liquor Licence and Control Act (LLCA).
Robert FROST, 31 years old, from Quinte West, was charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
Both accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on July 30.
Additionally, their vehicles were impounded for seven days, and their licences suspended for 90 days.
