The Ontario Fire Marshal has been contacted following a massive barn fire in the southern portion of Greater Napanee on Monday evening.
Fire Chief Shawn Armstrong says the blaze was called in around 7:00 p.m. on Monday at 2062 South Shore Road.
“… in the southern part of our response area, in the Dorland area. Upon arrival, we had an 800-foot barn that was fully involved with fire. Crews started to complete suppression duties. They made sure that all the exposures, adjacent barns and structures were were covered. As a result we were able to save those structures.”
The Adulphustown area blaze could be seen from as far away as Quinte West, Prince Edward County, and even Kingston.
The building was more that 130,000 square feet.
“The cause is under investigation. We’ll be approaching that today. We did contact the Fire Marshal’s office because the fire loss was in the excess of $4 million.”
