Quinte West mayoral candidate Zack Card officially launched his campaign at an event at Dahlia May Flower Farm on Murray-Harrington Road on Tuesday.
Card is currently the only person to have filed papers for the city’s top seat.
Meanwhile, incumbent Mayor Jim Harrison has yet to publicly comment on his political future or whether he will seek reelection.

Today, Quinte West Mayoral candidate, Zack Card, made his run for mayor of the city official with a gathering of dozens of supporters at the Dahlia May Flower Farm on Murray-Harrington Road.
“From the CSR desk to the mayor’s desk, we must first say ‘how can this task be done better’ rather than ‘this is the way we’ve always done it.’ We must shift our mindset from ‘this is good enough’ to ‘we’re always getting better’,” Card told the assembled crowd that included current and former councillors of the City of Quinte West.
Card is the first declared mayoral candidate for the city. Nominations could be filed starting on May 4, and Card says that he’s going into the race ready to take on the big challenges facing Quinte West.
“Since its creation 28 years ago, Quinte West has built the infrastructure needed for future growth. Unfortunately, the costs to maintain these assets has been higher than could have been expected. This fact, coupled with downloading costs and funding cuts from the provincial and federal governments, has created significant budget challenges,” Card added in his remarks.
“We can innovate and improve. We can attract enough doctors and have a more affordable city. We can address the infrastructure gap and invest in attainable housing. We can reform the ward system to give all voters more equal representation. We can do hard things if we come together to solve our shared challenges while preserving our shared values,” Card concluded.
