Madoc’s Ben Danford is leaping into the professional ranks this week as he joins the Toronto Marlies for their playoff run.
Following a heartbreaking game-seven exit in the OHL Eastern Conference finals with the Brantford Bulldogs, the 20-year-old defenceman and Maple Leafs first-round pick is headed to the AHL, to bolster a Marlies squad fresh off an upset over the top-seeded Laval Rocket.
The Quinte Red Devils grad recently represented Team Canada at the World Junior Championships, and is expected to be in the lineup this Thursday in Ohio as Toronto opens their series against the Cleveland Monsters.
