The winning dishes have been announced for the second annual Belleville Downtown Savour the Heat competition.
On May 9, 15 local businesses presented their best spicy dishes to be judged by the public and a panel of judges.
After the judges’ deliberation and counting of the people’s votes, the winners have been declared.
For the People’s Choice Award, Capers Restaurant took first place with their Bird’s Eye Chili Caramel Cheesecake. The Lark took second with their “Mama Mia! That’s-a one spicy meatball!” and third place went to Bourbon Street Pizza Co. for their Honey Heatwave Pizza.
In the Judges Choice Award, first place went to Cookie Jar Baking Belleville for their Spicy Macaron. Second place was awarded to Pho Blue Basil for their Vegetarian Basil Blaze Fried Rice. Bourbon Street Pizza Co. took third place again with their Honey Heatwave Pizza.
Danielle Hanoman, executive director of the Belleville Downtown Business Area, thanked the judges and the community for participating and making the event a success.
