Officials with the Wellington Dukes organization have confirmed to Quinte News they are one step closer to being sold.
Team officials provided the following quote to Quinte News. “Team Owner Ken Clement has entered into a Letter of Intent (LOI) with a local businessman from the Bay of Quinte region, for the purchase of the franchise.”
“This step represents meaningful progress toward securing the long-term stability of the Dukes and maintaining Junior A hockey in the community,” said Ken Clement. “Our priority remains clear, to honour commitments, complete a successful ownership transition, and preserve Junior A hockey for our players, fans, and community.”
Chris Miles, Dukes Business Operations Manager for the Dukes says the name of the businessman will not be released at this time, as per OJHL policy. “The deal is pending approval by the OJHL Board of Governors and we are hopeful the vote happens before the end of the month.”
Clement purchased the team from former long-time Dukes Owner Michael Mulvihill.
