Quinte West City Councillor Zack Card has announced he has officially submitted his nomination papers for mayor of Quinte West in the upcoming 2026 municipal election.
Card, a first-term councillor, says in a release that community affordability, a shortage of family doctors, lack of affordable housing, and roads and infrastructure are primary drivers for his campaign.
He says he is looking to apply “private-sector” principles to municipal operations that he says will improve efficiency and give staff modern tools to boost productivity and improve services.

Today, City Councillor Zack Card officially submitted his nomination papers and announced his candidacy for Mayor of Quinte West in the upcoming 2026 municipal election.
Card, a first-term councillor who received the highest number of council votes in the 2022 election, cited community affordability, the lack of family doctors and attainable housing, and roads and infrastructure management, as the primary drivers for his campaign.
An experienced entrepreneur and sitting councillor, Card intends to apply private-sector principles to municipal operations to improve efficiency and give staff the modern tools to boost productivity and improve services.
“The next Mayor and Council will face many challenges. I believe we need a pragmatic leader with private sector experience who can champion our city, attract investment, communicate effectively with residents, build consensus and deliver results”, Card wrote in a post announcing his run.
“I believe that I have proven that I can be that leader. I look forward to sharing my affordability agenda, and the rest of my platform, with you over the course of the campaign”, he continued. “Quinte West is a great city with wonderful businesses and organizations, an invaluable hospital and one of Canada’s most strategically important military bases, incredible natural beauty and a strong sense of community. Despite our challenges, I believe that today, more than ever, the best for Quinte West is yet to come.”
The 2026 Quinte West municipal election is scheduled for October 26, 2026.
