Water levels in Lake Ontario continue to rise.
The International Lake Ontario – St. Lawrence River Board is warning of rising water levels across the waterway this spring, driven by heavy rain and melting snow.
Extremely wet conditions over April have resulted in water levels rising to 75.30 metres in Lake Ontario, driven partially by increased flow from the Ottawa River feeding into the St. Lawrence River. Low-lying areas surrounding the lake are vulnerable to flooding at this water level when strong winds are present.
Water levels in Lake Ontario are expected to continue to rise, reaching their seasonal peak in June. Currently the water level is predicted to reach 75.50 metres.
