In celebration of National Speech and Hearing Month this May, Quinte Hearing Centre and the Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation (HPELF) have announced a significant milestone in its partnership.
To date, Quinte Hearing Centre has rallied to raise just over $11,000 toward their $20,000 goal for the “Have You Heard?” campaign.
The Have You Heard campaign aims to equip every primary classroom with soundfield — a specialized classroom amplification technology that ensures every student, regardless of where they are sitting, can hear the teacher’s voice clearly.
To help bridge the gap to the final goal, Quinte Hearing Centre is launching a special incentive. From now until the end of the school year, Quinte Hearing Centre will donate $100 for every pair of hearing aids purchased.
This initiative allows patients to invest in their own hearing health while simultaneously investing in the future of local students.
Maxine Armstrong, audiologist and owner of Quinte Hearing Centre, emphasizes that hearing health is a cornerstone of academic success.
“Clear hearing is the foundation of clear learning,” says Maxine Armstrong. “By bringing soundfield technology into our local primary classrooms, we are removing a silent barrier to education. We are so grateful for the community’s generosity thus far, but our work isn’t finished. We want to ensure that every child in our region has the auditory support they need to thrive from day one.”
How to Support
With approximately $9,000 left to reach the target, Quinte Hearing Centre is calling on local residents to help close the gap.
Members of the community can support the cause by:
-
Direct Donation: Visit HaveYouHeardHPE.ca to learn more and make a donation.
-
Clinical Support: Purchasing a pair of hearing aids at Quinte Hearing Centre before the end of June, which triggers a $100 donation toward the campaign.
The Learning Foundation is now calling for a final community push to fund the remaining 10% of the $555,000 overall fundraising goal. There are several ways to get involved:
-
Donate Directly: Every donation, regardless of size, helps reach the goal. Every $2,200 raised will fully equip one entire classroom.
-
Host a Fundraiser: Community members are encouraged to host their own events—such as a BBQ, car wash, or marathon—to help equip their local schools.
-
Give In Honour: Recognize the teacher in your life, whether past or present, who has made a difference.
-
Spread the Word: Help ensure “Every Voice is Heard” by sharing the campaign’s mission with your network.
