The City of Belleville says a new collective agreement between city council and the union representing the city’s volunteer firefighters has been ratified.
This agreement, which succeeds the previous contract that expired on October 31, 2025, will remain in effect until December 31, 2027.
Included in the agreement is a 3.5% wage increase slated for 2027.
The city says in a release that there are several enhancements that have been introduced, including payment frequency being updated to offer greater consistency for members.
The promotional process has also been revised to align with provincial legislation, with the city saying the agreement places increased emphasis on comprehensive training and the stewardship of municipal assets.
