Brighton council has taken another step toward the construction of a new shared emergency services facility and related
sub-station.
The current fire hall in Brighton is 55 years old and is too small.
It’s proposed a new emergency 24,000 square foot services building be constructed on the existing site on Elizabeth Street to be shared
by Brighton Fire & Rescue and Northumberland County Paramedics.
Previous to that a smaller sub-station would be built south of the railway tracks with space for training.
The project cost is roughly estimated at $15 million, however Monday council directed staff to proceed with final design
and a detailed cost estimate.
It’s hoped construction could start late this year or early next.
