The Hastings Prince Edward District School Board has released enrolment projects for the school year beginning in the fall.
10,061 students are enrolled in elementary, 458 fewer than last year’s projections.
Secondary is up, however, at 4,592, 26 higher than last year.
That equals 426 fewer students projected year-over-year.
Enrolment projections are made with the help of school administrators, using preregistration and program data to determine staffing levels and class sizes.
Draft elementary and secondary staffing will be finalized in mid-April with staffing processes beginning at month’s end.
