Belleville police made multiple arrests on Monday afternoon.
Early in the afternoon at 1:25pm, officers responded to a call about an unwanted person at a local business. Officers learned that the person had an outstanding arrest warrant for Failure to Comply with a Probation Order and Mischief Under $5,000.
As a result, officers found and arrested John Crawford, a 31-year-old Belleville man of no fixed address, on the strength of the outstanding warrant. He was held for a bail hearing.
In a separate incident just before 6:30pm, officers responded to a report of theft at a business in the city’s north end. Staff said they saw a woman hiding merchandise and leaving the store without paying. Officers reviewed video footage and saw the woman placing items in a bag and exiting the business.
As a result of investigation Mercedes Rushlow-Stratton, a 28-year-old Belleville woman of no fixed address, was located, arrested and charged with Theft Under $5,000. She was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in June.
