Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services will soon have an easier time working with patient records.
During Wednesday’s meeting of the Hastings/Quinte Emergency Services Committee, the committee approved the purchase of new patient care software, designed to streamline operations for paramedics.
The new software will make patient records more available to paramedics helping them, with new features including AI integration and real time access to a patient’s historical records. The new system comes from ESO, who provides the service’s existing records software. They succeeded in a bidding process involving 5 other companies, with a yearly cost for the system billed at $104,400.
Hastings-Quinte Paramedic chief Carl Bowker said that the new software offers many advantages.
“It’s very exciting to be embracing these new technologies, which could see the amount of time paramedics spend charting actually cut in half,” said Chief Bowker. “So certainly some tangible benefits that’ll trickle down to the front line as a result of the adoption of these new technologies.”
The new software is set to be implemented in fall 2026.
