The numbers are in on how much the Municipal Accommodation Tax brought in for Prince Edward County last year.
During Tuesday’s meeting of Prince Edward County council, councillors received a report that outlined the total collected for 2025’s MAT.
After accounting for expenses, the municipality collected a total of $1,500,168. That total was split with half going to the municipality, and the other half to Stay PEC and Visit the County, organizations which promote county tourism.
The report also included a breakdown of how MAT funds are expected to be used in 2026. A total of $1,292,619 was in the MAT reserve as of the start of 2026. Through the budget process, several projects were approved to use part of those funds, including $150,000 to offset increases in OPP service charges, $1,215,000 for council approved initiatives and $93,650 to be transferred to the operating budget to support tourism initiatives. Additional funds expected from this year’s MAT are included in the spending.
Council accepted the report for information, but took no other action.
