For the first time in their history, the Frankford Huskies have won the Tod Division Junior C Championship.
They defeated the Lakefield Chiefs 4-1 on Sunday afternoon to win the title in five games.
Through the playoffs the Huskies have gone 12-1 to this point.
Riley Grimmon had three assists, while Spencer Stanutz had two goals in the game.
Head Coach Matt Goody.
“It’s nice for the organization. They’ve been slowly building over the last five years and credit to Patty Sheer and Ian Green and the group that was here prior to and building that.”
He adds the community has also been behind the club.
“As a spectator last year, I saw that how they got behind this group and it’s really nice to see and especially things aren’t going so great for everybody right now. They have something to cheer for and these fans that come out, I think we had probably about 200 people here tonight from Frankford area and support the guys, that says a lot about the people and and the group that we have here.”
They will play either the Clarington Eagles or the Uxbridge Bruins, the winner of the Orr Division in the next round.
Frankford will have home ice advantage in the round.
