Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement indicating there is a risk of freezing rain Thursday night.
SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
In effect for:
- Belleville – Quinte West – Eastern Northumberland County
- Picton – Sandbanks Park
- Cobourg – Colborne – Western Northumberland County
- Napanee – Consecon
Freezing rain possible tonight.
What: Freezing rain leading to locally icy and slippery conditions. Ice accretion or buildup up to two millimetres.
When: Beginning this evening and ending overnight or early Friday morning.
Additional information: Areas near Lake Ontario will be on the northern edge of a weather system tonight. A few hours of freezing rain may occur, although it is possible that the majority of the precipitation will remain just south of the region. The area is being monitored for potential freezing rain warnings. Roads and walkways may become icy and slippery. Icy surfaces could be difficult to detect.
