Belleville police have arrested a man after an assault was reported to them.
On February 17, 2026, officers responded to an incident in the downtown area. Officers were told a man had assaulted another person before leaving the area. While investigating, police were unable to find the suspect.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, police made an arrest on February 25. A 24-year-old Belleville man of no fixed address was charged with assault, uttering threats, and failure to comply with a probation order. The man had an outstanding warrant, which was executed.
The man was held, pending a bail hearing.
