One person was charged with multiple offences after a stolen vehicle was stopped in Greater Napanee.
Lennox and Addington County OPP were on general patrol on Highway 401 just before 9 a.m. on Tuesday when police spotted a vehicle bearing a licence plate that did not appear to be authentic.
Police say the vehicle proceeded to accelerate at a high rate of speed and exit the highway before losing control on County Road 41 near Goodyear Road in Greater Napanee.
The accused was subsequently placed under arrest.
An investigation by police found that the vehicle had been stolen.
Twenty-seven-year-old Alexander Crown of Toronto was charged with the following:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
- Dangerous operation
- Possession of break in instruments
- Possession of a credit card
- Failure to comply with release order – four counts
- Breach of recognizance – two counts
- Driving while under suspension
- Drive motor vehicle – no licence
- Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
- Use plate not authorized for vehicle
- Drive motor vehicle, fail to display two plates
- Permit use of plate not in accordance with act
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
