The Children’s Safety Village, in partnership with Belleville Police Service, Brighton Community Policing, Co-operators, and the Ministry of Transportation, is proud to introduce a new educational program designed to help youth ages 14–18 understand the serious risks associated with impaired and distracted driving.
This impactful initiative combines a driving simulator, real-life stories, and live interactive learning experiences to give participants a realistic understanding of how alcohol, drugs, and distractions affect reaction time, judgment, and overall road safety. By experiencing the consequences in a safe learning environment, youth gain practical awareness that traditional classroom lessons cannot replicate.
Delivered collaboratively with community safety partners, the program focuses on prevention through education — encouraging responsible decision-making before teens ever get behind the wheel independently. Participants will explore the real-world consequences of unsafe driving behaviours and learn strategies to protect themselves, their passengers, and others on the road.
“Prevention starts before a licence is issued,” says Executive Director Rachelle Baldock. “By helping youth truly understand the impact of impaired and distracted driving, we empower them to make safer choices that protect lives across our community.”
