At the Winter Olympic Games on Sunday, a Canadian figure skating pair with a local connection finished third in short program qualifying.
Quinte West’s Trennt Michaud and his partner Lia Pereira scored 76.4 points, a personal best, to qualify for the final event, the pairs free skate, starting at 2 p.m. Eastern Time Monday.
Another Canadian pair, Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps stumbled but still finished 14th in the short and will be among the 16 pairs skating Monday.
Shortly after their performance in the short program, Canadian figure skating pair Trennt Michaud (native of Quinte West) and Lia Pereira are interviewed on CBC Television.
