UPDATE: Fire in old Belleville

Fire crews continue on scene at a blaze at a historic home in Belleville.

Firefighters responded to the 200 block of William Street between Queen and Victoria Streets around 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

Deputy Fire Chief Mark Shannon says firefighters removed one person from the home while two others escaped on their own.

Hastings Quinte Paramedics transported two people to hospital.

Police have closed the area of William and Queen Streets.

Motorists are asked to use alternate routes.

Fire investigators are on scene.
