Belleville City Council will receive a recommendation to receive the implementation strategy for two-hour free parking at municipal lots within the downtown DBIA district.
The recommendation also calls for the amendment of the 2026 capital budget of $42,000 for upgrades to all the pay-and-display machines.
Money would come from the city’s Parking Reserve Fund which carries a balance of $684,000.
The increased enforcement costs to administer the two-hour free parking program effectively will be reviewed during consideration of the 2026 Operating Budget.
City staff expect the implementation of two-hour free parking at municipal lots within the downtown DBIA to begin in Q2 2026 (April to June).
Council will review the recommendation at its council meeting on Monday.
