The United Way Hastings & Prince Edward is hosting its Day of Impact on Friday with the aim of raising $50,000 in one day.
It is part of the final stretch of United Way HPE’s 2025/26 fundraising campaign.
“This is essentially a community-wide call to action, we are asking local businesses and local supporters, if you are able to help and support United Way on this day, we are so, so appreciative,” campaign coordinator Emily Quesnelle tells Quinte News ahead of the day.
“There are so many different ways for people to support, whatever way that they can support.”
A number of businesses in the area will be taking donations that day or taking proceeds from sales of items.
The United Way is also hosting its own 50/50 draw online.
One of the unique aspects of the day is the “Booked and Bailed” portion.
“We’ve issued warrants out for incredible community leaders. They’re wanted for unlawful levels of generosity, and so they’re going to be fundraising to bail themselves out of the jail cell that will be set up for the day at the Bayview Mall,” Quesnelle explained.
Quinte Broadcasting’s own Tim Durkin is taking part in the Booked and Bailed portion of the Day of Impact.
