An Ontario man accused of being part of a neo-Nazi group with a
local connection has pleaded guilty to terrorism-related charges.
Matthew Althorpe told a Toronto judge yesterday that he was
a complete monster at times, but has turned over a new leaf since
his arrest in 2023.
Althorpe has admitted to creating and publishing white
supremacist propaganda while being an active member of Atomwaffen
Division from around 2018 until it disbanded in 2020 or 2021.
The man’s lawyer has asked Superior Court Justice Jane Kelly
to consider a sentence of 12 to 14 years, less than the 20 years
sought by Crown prosecutors.
Atomwaffen shot some videos at an abandoned cement plant near Belleville.
