The Quinte Health Board of Directors recognized members of the 9-8-8 Crisis Response Team with January’s Quinte Health Values in Action Award at its meeting this week.
The 9-8-8: Suicide Crisis Helpline is a national service with local responders who take calls and provide support to people who are thinking about suicide or worried about someone they know.
Quinte Health President and CEO Stacey Daub acknowledged the critical role the 9-8-8 team – Shannon Webster, Lori Wood, Alyssa Houlden and Heather Neal – plays in supporting individuals and families during mental health crises, calling the team an essential part of the continuum of care.
Daub says their 9-8-8 responders are part of Quinte Health’s broader mental health program and work closely with the team at the Crisis Intervention Centre to connect callers to additional local supports.
